Everyone is now aware of the escalating dangers posed by the ever-changing Coronavirus pandemic. I, along with the operational and senior leadership teams, continue to focus on making the right decisions at the right time to ensure Rangeford Villages continues to help our staff in all their efforts to safely support our residents.
The actions we have taken are based around the latest government advice as well as the actions of colleagues at other ARCO retirement villages and from the CQC. We are all sharing information, best practice and actions on a regular basis in order to stay ahead of the crisis as best we can. Importantly residents’ views and concerns are also taken into account and acted upon if appropriate.
Wadswick Green is currently only open to residents, key members of staff, contractors that need to attend the site and key family members that perform a care or support capacity. Everyone is required to adhere to strict hygiene and social distancing measures at all times.
The Greenhouse Restaurant is operating in a new capacity, namely providing take away and delivery services to our residents. So far this has proved popular and is both a nice break from cooking but also critical back up service if and when required.
We have opened a Village Shop to cater for any essential items for the residents. The number of products available to purchase are ever increasing to help reduce the need to go to the shops more than necessary, including delicious frozen meals direct from the restaurant. It also offers vital back up and reassurance to all our residents.
As already stated, visitors remain as ‘essential only’ and a number of other local measures have been put in place and communicated to our residents. We are also devising engagement and activity programmes for those that wish to participate in a safe and sensible manner, helping to keep village life as stimulating as possible. Our marketing suite and showhomes are closed, although the sales team are available remotely to answer any questions or to progress any outstanding tasks.
All our actions are precautionary measures to minimise the risk to the people living with us, their family members and our staff. Our Rangeford Care service continues to provide essential care and support to our residents and this remains an absolute priority area for us. So far, this service has required only minor changes and the team continue to provide an excellent ‘front line’ service to our residents.
We anticipate making more changes as the situation changes and urge everyone to follow the national guidance around prevention of the spread of the virus. We will maintain high levels of communication with staff and residents throughout this difficult time.
