04/05/2016 Wadswick Green, Case Study
“We realised that if we made the move now, rather than later, our overall lifestyle would improve immensely...”
Norman and Pat Fuggle have moved to Wadswick Green at the end of August 2015, after living in their four-bed property in nearby Yate / Chipping, Sodbury for 12 years. Retired for a few years, the couple has a busy diary as they dedicate their spare time to their local church and are keen travellers with an interest in National Trust destinations. Moving to a 60+ development wasn’t on their wish-list of things to do in their retirement. Pat comments: “Like most people our ages, we weren’t planning to move to a so called retirement development but it felt like the right thing to do after visiting Wadswick Green.
“I think a lot of people are waiting far too long before moving to a 60+ property and it ends up being a forced decision. We realised that if we made the step now, rather than later, our overall lifestyle would improve immensely and we could fully enjoy our new freedom as Wadswick Green is managing everything. I no longer have to worry about the garden or cleaning the windows!”
With all responsibilities of a family house being taken care of by Wadswick Green, The Fuggles now spend more time with their large family of four children and 10 grandchildren – all living only a 10-minute drive away. A keen cook, Norman is often using the kitchen to host their circle of friends in their new 2-bed apartment.
He adds: “Initially, some of our friends were surprised to hear about our decision to move whilst others have actually been inspired to look into 60+ properties themselves. One thing they have realised is that the term ‘retirement development’ shouldn’t put them off. Modern places like Wadswick Green offer incredible living and lifestyle facilities with a community feel and calendar of activities. We also enjoy spending time in the Pavilion, where we take advantage of the pool and other facilities, which all have really made the village spring to life.”
Wadswick Green’s newest apartments are part of two building phases called Almond Close and Ash Lane. Each phase comprises of 45 modern one, two and three bedroom residences with prices to be released soon. Whilst Almond Close celebrated its topping off ceremony in May 2018 and is due to complete this year, Ash Lane just broke ground in July and is due for completion in winter 2019.
Residents can enjoy the village’s state-of-the-art amenities such as a gym, swimming pool including Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and even a spa and hair salon. In addition, Wadswick Green is home to The Greenhouse restaurant, which has proven popular with residents and the Wiltshire community alike. Regular events, organised by the Wadswick Green team as well as residents themselves, provide a busy calendar with activities including walking groups, dancing, prayer groups and more.
Similar to Wadswick Green’s first phase of apartments, the homes at Almond Close will have an open-plan layout that creates an inviting atmosphere. The spacious kitchens are equipped with the latest Neff appliances and feature engineered, high-quality hardwood flooring. The large living rooms have up to 8’4” ceiling height with floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows that make the most of the natural daylight and lead onto walk-on balconies with picturesque woodland or valley views.
The modern design carries through to the apartments’ bathrooms, which are kitted out with convenient walk-in-showers and luxury taps and fittings. Thorough insulation supports the energy efficient underfloor heating. Buyers who want to move to Wadswick Green sooner rather than later can currently choose from a number of already completed one-bed residences in The Pavilion, also known as the hub of the village. Situated above Wadswick Green’s spa, The Pavilion Residences offer the most convenient access to all on-site amenities and start from £265,000.
To experience the feel and quality of Wadswick Green’s apartments first-hand, interested buyers are encouraged to visit the recently opened marketing suite and showroom, which is located opposite The Greenhouse Restaurant.
