Case Study: Mrs Rossiter Creating a Home

03/01/2020 Wadswick Green, Case Study

Mrs Rossiter - Wadswick Green Resident

I have immense peace and satisfaction that Wadswick Green is the perfect new home for my mother, and so does she!

Annalisa Duff (56) lives with her husband Nick (also 56) in Wiltshire’s Biddestone. Opposite the Duff’s lives Annalisa’s mother; fit and active Anneka Rossiter (85) who has been sharing her cottage with Golden Retriever Bella since 2003.

Although Mrs Rossiter’s health is no concern at the moment, she felt she would cope better in a modern apartment rather than an old cottage with a huge garden. Having found the perfect solution at Wadswick Green, the Duff’s didn’t hesitate to buy the new apartment.

Annalisa comments: “My mum’s cottage is currently for sale, which will eventually finance the apartment at Wadswick Green, but we didn’t want to sit around and wait for a buyer and end up missing out on securing my mum’s dream home. To secure the apartment she wanted, we didn’t think twice and lent her the money for the deposit.

“When my mother and I initially started looking for her perfect home in 2014, our wishlists were quite straight forward but hard to fulfil without compromising on one or two points. We both wished to remain in close proximity to each other but equally wanted the new home to offer an independent lifestyle and a community that allows my mother to maintain her very active social calendar. In addition, my mother wanted to feel safe and secure in the knowledge that care facilities are conveniently onsite should she ever need them. Space, light and beautiful views were also very important to her.

“Wadswick Green offers the most spectacular views from the apartment and the floor to ceiling windows mean light pours in even if the weather is gloomy. Once the central Pavilion opens in October, there will be even more opportunity to socialise. This was not an option at other 60+ places we looked at, which, at the prospect of living there, made my mother feel depressed due to developments’ small windows, little natural light and claustrophobic interior layouts.

“I realised, in hindsight, that what we had looked at before would have been very wrong for my mother. When discovering Wadswick Green, I could not believe that it offered everything we BOTH could have hoped for and more. I have immense peace and satisfaction that Wadswick Green is the perfect new home for my mother, and that we have made the right choice together!

“My mum always said she would love to live in one of those properties that feature on the TV show ‘Grand Designs’. When we came across Wadswick Green, she was just amazed by the quality as the properties are as good as the pictures. It really is like living in a ‘Grand Designs’ home.”

Mrs Rossiter has reserved a two-bed apartment, which is priced at £375,000.

The contemporary two bedroom ‘Courtyard Apartment’ is located in a neighbourly courtyard with wide avenues and enjoys views across the beautiful courtyard and Wiltshire countryside.

A high-spec, personalised lift goes directly to the front door and this spacious apartment at 1,032 ft2 (95.9m2) in size has a 5x13ft balcony or terrace; so sunrise can be enjoyed from the large double bedroom or living area.

The large living room has an 8’4” ceiling to floor height with floor-to-ceiling double aspect, double-glazed windows, allowing the light to flood-in.  The modern open-plan kitchen, dining and entertainment area features a moveable central unit which provides a wide-open space which is perfect for hosting friends, family and the grandchildren.  It also allows for large pieces of furniture.

Mrs Rossiter chose the natural white oak interior finish, which is modern and light, with white matt kitchen units and off-white, grey and sand-speckled Silestone worktops. Her Courtyard Apartment also has broadband, Wi-Fi, telephone and satellite outlets as well as hot-water, energy-efficient underfloor heating throughout.

The interior design incorporates wide aisles, low level ovens, shallow shelving, easy to use taps, wet room and step-free flooring.  The kitchen is designed by Alno with integrated Bosch appliances including oven, hob and microwave as well as dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer.  The elegant, seamless contemporary design also has soft intelligent closers and hidden finger pulls.

The contemporary bathroom features striking warm taupe porcelain stone brick-shaped tiles with limestone finish, whilst the luxurious 2 bedrooms (15ft 5”x9ft 2” and 11ft 2”x10ft 2”) have high ceilings, plenty of natural lighting and ample storage space. There is recessed, directional low-energy LED lighting and ambient lighting scheme.
