Case Study: Stress Free Moving

09/01/2020 Wadswick Green, Case Study

Sandra Fraley - Wadswick Green ResidentSandra Farley recently moved from Berkshire to Wadswick Green into an Almond Close apartment. Commenting on the reasons for moving, Sandra says, “My late husband and I had some very good friends that moved to the Rowan Lane apartments at Wadswick Green.” In fact, their friends were some of the first residents to move into Wadswick Green. “We came to visit them one day and immediately fell in love with the village and decided we would move here as we knew we would need some extra care in the future. Unfortunately, my husband passed away before we moved, so plans were postponed. I still planned to move here though as my husband had been very set on the idea.”

“I am very grateful for the patience the sales team showed me during this time as they waited for my health to improve enough to make the move and kept the apartment reserved for me.”

“Although it’s been a big adjustment and an unnerving thing to do, it is very reassuring to be here at Wadswick Green as there is so much support available, which make me feel secure. The sales ladies are also so welcoming and encouraging; they always seem so interested in how I am getting on.”

Sandra had help from The Senior Move Partnership, which is available to new residents at Wadswick Green. “Ahead of the move, I had visits from the Senior Move team where I received advice on moving. Then, on the day of my move, the removal men arrived at my new home along with someone from Senior Move who helped me unpack and even made my bed for me, which made a huge difference.”

“I am very pleased to be here at Wadswick Green. It’s a pleasure to be somewhere open – there is an open lawn, wide views of the surrounding countryside and sky. Everyone also has huge windows, which makes it feel like there is always somebody around. Residents of Wadswick Green live life on an open basis rather than shut away. You can watch people coming and going and really feel like part of a community.”

“I particularly enjoy The Greenhouse Coffee Shop; it is very pleasant. You always bump into someone you know; it is a lovely social place where you can have a cup of tea with a friend or meet someone new. Although I have only been at Wadswick Green for a short period of time, I have met a number of the residents all of whom have been very welcoming.”

Commenting on the activities and groups on offer, Sandra says, “My husband and I used to have a summer day where we would invite friends for croquet and, when I left Berkshire, I thought that would be the end of that hobby. But Wadswick Green has a full-size croquet lawn here to play on, and I have been able to invite my close friends that live nearby to play here. The Village Team are also putting on a croquet afternoon with tuition, which I am really looking forward to.”

“Early June was a lovely time to move to Wadswick Green and discover the beautiful gardens. I have been extremely impressed by how creative the gardeners are. There are gardens immediately outside every apartment, as well as throughout the grounds. There is so much variety throughout, with planting changing seasonally.”
