How Rangeford Retirement Villages are Promoting Sustainability
At Rangeford Retirement Villages, doing the right thing for the environment has always been one of our key priorities. We believe passionately in protecting the future, whilst enhancing lives in the present. We want to make sure that our planet offers the same opportunities for future generations. We do this in many ways, alongside our investors Fern Trading and with our affiliation with the Octopus Group, who are committed to protecting the environment and oversee responsible financial and social investment.
All of our employees are equally committed to sustainability and protecting the environment. We have developed our training and engagement programmes to help empower our colleagues to play their part and we offer advice and information to help them develop any of their own ideas and initiatives focusing on the environment.
In terms of our operational objectives here at Rangeford Retirement Villages, we promote our responsibility to the environment, and we work towards the following:
To help drive our sustainability agenda, we are offering new incoming residents the opportunity to lease a brand-new electric car on us for three years! According to the Exo Experts, buying an electric car is one of the quickest ways to reduce your carbon footprint and fight climate change. Significantly, statistics show that in 2019, electric drivers in the UK stopped the climate from being exposed to 2.8 million tonnes of CO2.
How our electric car offer works:
What else are we doing?
We are developing purpose-built new communities for future residents to enjoy in later life. Our villages are carefully designed on an individual basis to ensure that they take advantage of new technologies to reduce our impact on the environment.
We always aim to meet BREAAM ‘Very Good’ as a minimum, an internationally recognised certification which assesses the building’s specification, design, construction and use for its impact on the environment.
A key strategic move is to include all-electric energy systems supplemented by Air Source Heat Pump’s and Photovoltaic electricity generating cells. These systems help reduce carbon emissions and provide ongoing energy cost savings.
We will invest in energy infrastructure in our existing buildings including adding Photovoltaic cells and EV chargers where possible and constantly improve our biodiversity levels across our outdoor spaces.
We’re thinking ahead.
We are continuing to adapt our ways of working and construction techniques to further enhance our environmental and social credentials with a drive towards a net zero outcome by 2030 by using greener design methods, energy sources and strategies. We will also encourage our residents to reach the same target and help our residential communities to cut energy waste and switch to cleaner energy. We look forward to sharing this journey with you.
