It is with great sadness that we today share the news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. The official announcement was broadcast by the BBC at 18.30 on 8 September 2022. In line with tradition, an official notice has also been placed on the gates of Buckingham Palace and the country will now enter a 10-day period of mourning.
The Queen had ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history, becoming a much-loved and respected figure across the globe. Known for her remarkable sense of duty and her devotion to a life of service, she had been an important figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of enormous political, economic and social change.
We send our sincere condolences to Her Majesty The Queens’ family and to all those who cared and looked after her during the days of her last illness - their grief is felt by us all.
