Mental Health Matters to Rangeford Villages

23/05/2023 Wadswick Green, Siddington Park, Mickle Hill, Homewood Grove, General, Case Study, Blog, Corporate

This year’s national Mental Health Awareness Week took place from Monday 15th – Sunday 21st May and as always, its events aimed to encourage the conversation around the important topic of mental health throughout the UK. The focus this year was Anxiety, which affects around 60% of the country’s working population. Rangeford Villages is aware how important maintaining good mental health is for both our staff and residents, and as such, has been demonstrating support throughout each of our villages with various events and activities over the last week.

The team at Wadswick Green were all eager to get outside in the sunshine to participate in activities promoting mental health and wellbeing. From looking on the bright side with the ‘ring of thanks’ ball game played on our lawn, to popping away all the stresses of the day with balloons.

Our staff at Siddington Park have similarly been engaging with Mental Health Awareness Week activities to show just how much mental health matters. Village Manager, Will, led his Siddington team on a wellbeing walk through the beautiful local Cotswolds area right on the doorstep of our Cirencester-based retirement community. This was a fantastic opportunity for those involved to relax, check in with each other and enjoy an ice cream treat on a well-deserved break.

Over at Mickle Hill, the team arranged to dress in colour for The Mental Health Foundation’s ‘Wear it Green Day’. This fun event helped to fundraise towards the important research continuously being carried out by The Mental Health Foundation to deliver specialised mental health support to those who need it most throughout the UK. Statistics show that 1 in 6 of us up and down the country experience mental health problems each week and as such Mickle Hill are pleased to support this worthy cause.

We firmly believe that your mental health is just as important as your physical health, which is why Rangeford Villages aims to create a real sense of community and belonging for all our residents. Our core values of service, respect and care lead everything we do, allowing you to relax and enjoy your retirement with peace of mind. We offer a host of activities and days out designed to promote our residents’ wellbeing, including low impact exercise classes such as yoga, aqua aerobics, Pilates and Qigong, plus regular trips to local tourist attractions and sites of natural beauty. In addition, each village’s bustling events schedule featuring coffee mornings, film and food nights, and sports and games tournaments allow our residents the opportunity to get to know our village teams and to socialise with friends and neighbours. What’s more, our dedicated care team are on hand 24 hours a day to ensure that discreet and friendly tailored assistance is available to you, if and when you need it.

Rangeford Villages want to ensure our villages are positive places to live and work for all. By empowering residents and nurturing their lifestyle choices through our varied approach to wellbeing, we keep our communities happy, healthy and thriving. You can take a look at how we achieve this promise via our wellbeing charter here.

It’s not just a week, we all have mental health and we would like to remind you that support is always available. This and every week, it’s good to talk!

If you or a loved one are experiencing issues relating to mental health, we suggest you take a look at The Mental Health Foundation website www.mentalhealth.org.uk for more information on the advice and support available to you.
