August 2020
French cheese & wine night in our much loved Greenhouse Coffee Shop and Restaurant for Residents - a glass of Chateauneuf-du-pape with a selection of cheeses were enjoyed by all who attended.
The first in our summer series of events took place ‘Residents Golf Tournament Day’ with the residents of Almond Close declared as the winners! Here's Patrick, as the victorious Captain, collecting the Wadswick Green Claret Jug from Rangeford CEO Howard Nankivell.
September
We launched the first in our series of videos promoting the splendid Wadswick Green, these are being received fantastically by the public - thanks again to all those involved in their creation!
The Residents enjoyed a BBQ on the Greenhouse Terrace, despite the September chilly weather!

We were able to hold the end of summer BBQ with over 70 residents joining in throughout the evening - in groups of no more than 6 of course - and thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Many Residents and even those of the canine kind took part in a sponsored walk for a local Corsham good cause, Dorothy House Hospice, raising money specifically for supporting end of life care. Well done everyone who took part and thank you to those who donated, raising over £1,300!
After the success of French Night earlier in the summer, the Greenhouse went on to host ‘Champagne and Oysters’ a lovely treat for all involved.
November
And just as we hoped we would have some normality in our lives in the run up to Christmas Lockdown 2.0 was announced…. We had to adjust many of our plans!
We held an Autumn Photography Competition for Wadswick Green Residents, with the top three entries gaining a place in the official 2021 Wadswick Green Calendar.
In the spirit of BBC Children in Need a Rangeford Village resident living at Mickle Hill, Bill Rex, organised a wonderful sponsored walk raising £680 for the fantastic cause! Read more here
Finally, to make lockdown a little brighter, we held the first of our Christmas Festivities - a Caribbean Christmas Fair. Residents enjoyed fresh haddock and vegetable fricassee and jerk chicken with pilaf rice, as well as Jamaican lager and ginger beer, all whilst browsing a hamper stall with local and natural organic products!
December
Lockdown restrictions were eased to tier2, so we celebrated this with a saxophonist to serenade the Residents from the apartment courtyards!
The Christmas spirit was spread to all at Wadswick Green with the Christmas lights switch on whilst enjoying some delicious mulled wine and sausage rolls!
Santa and his Elves [Ted, Caroline and Beckie from the village team] visited the residents, bring lots of smiles across the village!
Residents cemented their Christmas spirit by throwing themselves into a ‘Balcony Christmas Decoration’ Competition, here are just some of the amazing efforts that lit up and cheered up the village:
Wadswick Green residents in the over 90s category received the village's first Covid Vaccinations – finally a light at the end of tunnel. The Village transport was used by many to make the trip to and from the GP surgeries.
January
January arrived with a bang and Lockdown 3.0 began…. With tougher restrictions in place again and poor weather conditions things have been a little quiet at Wadswick Green. The village team have been keeping in touch with all of our residents, offering support when and wherever needed. Well done team, our residents really appreciate your cheery smiles.
The vaccine roll out continued across the village with the Care Team and a number of village team, as well as many more residents, receiving their first set of vaccinations:
Finally, after snowflakes fell like a blanket across Wadswick Green, residents made the most of it, whilst the village team kept the roads and pathways clear.
A change to the current routine, and to make the long and dark days a little brighter for our residents, plans are afoot in February for a Mexican Winter Shack takeaway, much like our Caribbean hut back in November, – tasty food and drink! Watch this space for more updates over Lockdown 3.0 and beyond.
