Award-winning later living specialist Rangeford Villages is launching a unique and all-encompassing approach to wellness. Branded ‘Wellbeing by Rangeford Villages’, it will be integrated into all aspects of village life and beyond as part of the group’s mission to empower residents to nurture their lifestyle choices and ensure that each resident does not just exist but thrives.

Retirement can be a daunting proposition for many: residents may have left long-established careers and lost their sense of identity, may be leaving a much-loved family home or may have lost a loved one. Rangeford Villages believes that every resident should have their emotional, physical and mental needs supported, and to help achieve this they have selected four foundations of wellbeing that will be integrated into all aspects of village life and beyond: Purpose, Health, Community, and Environment.

When residents move into a Rangeford Villages development, the Wellbeing Team will be able to help them seamlessly transition into their new life and residents can opt to work with the team to create a tailored wellbeing plan. If they wish to, residents can have annual wellbeing reviews, or more frequently as required. Wellbeing plans are entirely led by residents, for them to choose how much or how little they wish to be involved in a wellbeing journey at Rangeford Villages.

The Wellbeing brand has been created with the assistance of Helena Field, a Health and Wellbeing Coach and Managing Director of Action Wellbeing. Commenting on the new launch, Howard Nankivell, CEO at Rangeford Villages says: Our mission with Rangeford Villages has always been to create beautiful, contemporary communities with excellent services and amenities to help people 60+ enjoy life to the full, and our new service offering, Wellbeing by Rangeford Villages, really encapsulates everything we stand for. The coronavirus pandemic has clearly demonstrated to us all the importance of looking after our health, and we think that the launch of Wellbeing by Rangeford Villages comes at a perfect time. Our new all-encompassing and holistic approach to wellbeing will help ensure that our residents do not just exist but thrive at our villages, which is particularly important during these exceptional times.”

The Four Foundations of Wellbeing have been expertly developed to provide an all-encompassing approach to living a happy, healthy and thriving lifestyle at all of the Rangeford villages.

Purpose

Village teams will help residents establish a routine and will identify the extent of participation the resident wants in village life and how they will maintain their identity and sense of purpose. Rangeford Villages offer an array of activities across its developments for an enriched life including walking clubs, prayer group, knitting, golf, Zumba, arts and crafts and book clubs. Residents can choose to be as relaxed or as active as they please and are encouraged to set up and lead their own social groups and clubs.

Health

Rangeford Villages will identify how the Wellbeing Team can support residents with their physical and mental health. Residents will be asked what kind of physical activity they enjoy, whether they would be open to trying new activities, how physically and mentally healthy they are, and what support they would like with nutrition, sleep, stress, health conditions and cognitive health. The village team can provide residents with access to the best local practitioners in their field, such as sleep therapists, nutritionists, chiropodists, osteopaths, and physiotherapists as required.

Community

Rangeford Villages will establish the importance of belonging for each resident and how Rangeford Villages can ensure they maintain connections. A resident’s bespoke wellbeing plan will establish whether they require people to regularly check-in with them, will direct them to suitable social groups, classes and support groups they can join. In addition, Rangeford Villages has links with local groups, clubs and voluntary organisations which will provide residents with an opportunity to maintain and extend their network beyond the village boundaries.

Environment

Rangeford Villages will identify whether the resident needs any help with cleaning and the maintenance of their home, or if any action needs to be taken to ensure they feel safe. Residents can benefit from onsite care and support in the comfort of their own home, with custom care packages available created to help them with daily tasks such as getting dressed, washing, preparing meals, housekeeping and even companionship. Rangeford Villages also create stimulating and biodiverse external environments and work to reduce the impact our developments have on the environment for the benefit of our residents and the world we all live in.

Rangeford Villages’ developments currently comprise of Wadswick Green in Corsham, Wiltshire; Mickle Hill in North Pickering, Yorkshire; and Siddington Park in Cirencester. Wellbeing by Rangeford Villages will be introduced to Wadswick Green from January 2021, enhancing the excellent services already provided and will be available at Siddington Park when the village opens to its first residents later in 2022.
