"We haven't looked back since!" - David and Gillian are living more at Wadswick Green

16/02/2023 Wadswick Green, General, Newsletter, Case Study, Blog

Mr David Little, 78, a retired Accountant and former Business Consultant, and Mrs Gillian Little, 76, a former Personal Assistant, moved from East Stour in North Dorset to Wadswick Green in Wiltshire in December 2021, having sold their bungalow just 7 weeks previously.

They bought a first floor, 2-bedroom apartment with balcony and rolling countryside views. and are thoroughly enjoying the benefits and onsite amenities at the Wadswick Green’s integrated retirement community, situated within easy reach the picturesque town of Corsham.

Mr Little commented:

“I first saw Wadswick Green when I was out for a drive in my sports car, which is an enjoyable 1-hour drive away from the village where we were living. I was immediately struck by the village’s kerb side appeal, with its stunning design and landscaping, so I decided to call in and find out a bit more about the development and take a look around the village and its facilities. I came away very impressed, it seemed to have everything you need all in one location. I had never really thought about living in a retirement village until that point.

I went home and told my wife about it and persuaded her to come and look at Wadswick Green in July. Gill suffers with arthritis and her mobility had started to decrease, I felt now would be the right time to consider a move before it became just too much effort and, I have to say, we haven’t looked back since!

There is so much going on in the village, and you can be as active or as laid back as you like. There is a really great sense of community here, and lots of great opportunities to socialise for those that want to. We use the coffee shop and The Greenhouse restaurant frequently with its lovely terrace. I do three gym sessions a week, swim, and I also enjoy playing croquet and table tennis - I like to keep as active as I can.

Mrs Little, who has recently undergone a knee replacement operation said: “I am making really good use of the pool and spa facilities, which is helping my recovery process. I also attend the art group every 2 weeks, which I really enjoy, and I’m hoping to join the choir too when it starts.  In addition, there are many social gatherings, coffee mornings, theatre trips and we’ve just had a sundowner evening - drinks outside on the lawn with all the new neighbours our lane. It really is a lovely friendly place to live.

Mr Little continued:

“One of the main benefits of living here is that we no longer need two cars so, sadly, I sold my sports car as we only really use the car now for long journeys to visit family. Apart from that we live a relatively car free life, as we have everything we need, right here on our doorstep. The lovely town of Corsham is so close by with all its individual shops and restaurants. Gill makes regular use of the wonderful concierge service here, to attend doctors’ appointments and local shopping, including sometimes the weekly car to Bath. There is also the option of using housekeeping services for cleaning and the dedicated care team which offers bespoke care plans, should we need these in the future.

I think what appeals to us most is that everything is so accessible here, it really makes for easy retirement living. We can relax knowing that our needs are catered for, both now and in the future. We are thoroughly enjoying life Wadswick Green and would highly recommend it!”
