"The workshop is a great addition to the excellent amenities we already have at Mickle Hill. It was erected in 2019, and since then we have insulated it, lined out the inside, and painted it out. We have fitted it out with a purpose-made long joiners bench, a large table top for various activities, and a smaller bench so wheelchair users can be included as well. Two wood carving kits have been donated so we have lots of tools and equipment."

"We first made contact with the Yvette Jones [Mickle Hill sales advisor] last September when we visited Mickle Hill to report back to my mother-in-law who lived in Somerset at the time. Yvette has been magnificent throughout our engagement leading to the decision to purchase the Apartment in January and through to completion and moving in last week."

My main reason for moving was to downsize following complete retirement. I had a fairly big garden in my previous home, so it’s good not to have the hassle of maintaining it anymore. I was looking for a retirement village with facilities such as a gym and a restaurant and I looked online for possible options across the country and found Mickle Hill, which matched my criteria.

I’m looking forward to enjoying the amenities at Mickle Hill, such as going to the bar, using the gym, and getting to meet new people. I love that there is a bistro as well - it’s great because it means I won’t always have to cook!

Bill Rex, 83, who has been living at Mickle Hill for 3 years, organised a charity walk to raise funds for Children in Need. As part of this he led 10 residents on a 2-mile walk across the countryside and they successfully raised £680 in donations from residents and members of staff at Mickle Hill.

I had lived in the same house for 72 years when I moved into a two bedroom apartment at Mickle Hill on August 6th this year.

I had heard about Mickle Hill through a friend who moved here when it first opened about four years ago and I was always really impressed when I would come to visit. All the facilities looked great and her flat has so much space in it – I was grabbed from the beginning.

Janet Ainsworth, 76, lived with her husband of ten years Neil in their family home in the Lake District when they made the decision to downsize. To move into their new home as quickly as possible, the couple opted for a part exchange to speed up the process. Janet comments: “It wasn’t the most economical option but I don’t regret it at all! The staff at Mickle Hill were just wonderful, they helped us every step of the way to make the moving process go as smoothly and efficiently as possible.”

Like many of us, Sue Styles (62) from North Yorkshire was becoming increasingly concerned about her mother’s wellbeing. 89 year old Mrs Le Page lived in Gloucestershire in a large house and garden that had been in the family for over 50 years. Sue comments: “My main concern was the fact that my mother lived far out of any village and a long way from any shops. She was very dependent on other people and I couldn’t always be there for her due to the distance. Following my father passing away earlier this year, another major concern was that she became isolated and lonely.”
